Logistics Label Format:

The logistics unit label is divided into three sections: the carrier section, the customer section, and the supplier section. Each section contains specific information and is represented in both text and barcode forms. The SSCC barcode is located at the bottom of the label.

What is SSCC

SSCC is an 18-digit code in the GS1 system used to uniquely identify logistics units (such as pallets, containers), ensuring global uniqueness and facilitating full tracking and management. It usually appears on shipping labels in plain text and GS1-128 barcode formats, supporting automation and standardization in the supply chain.

Structure of SSCC

  • Extension Digit (1 digit): The extension digit is an optional number used to extend the length of the manufacturer identification code. If there is no extension digit, the SSCC will start from the 2nd digit.
  • Company Prefix (7 or 8 digits): This is a unique number assigned by GS1 to manufacturers or product identifiers, also known as the manufacturer identification code.
  • Serial Number (6 or 7 digits): This is a unique serial number assigned by the manufacturer to each logistics unit. This serial number is unique under the same company prefix.
  • Check Digit (1 digit): This is a number calculated from the first 17 digits of the SSCC (including the extension digit and company prefix), used to verify the correctness of the entire SSCC.

The format of SSCC can be represented as:

[Extension Digit][Company Prefix][Serial Number][Check Digit]

Label Size

According to standards, logistics labels come in two sizes: 105mm×148mm (A6 size) and 148mm×210mm (A5 size), to be chosen as needed.
